The Clear Boundaries of Virtual Security

SimLiveSecurity offers vacation homeowners a smart solution to make their vacant property safer during extended absences. The service simulates an inhabited atmosphere through dynamically varying light patterns and everyday noises – such as randomly switching lamps on and off in different rooms. Additionally, a 360-degree camera enables remote checks via smartphone. However, despite these features, the provider makes it clear: the system does not prevent break-ins and neither replaces the police nor professional security services. It merely serves as a preventive aid to reduce risk by making the house less inviting to thieves. Those needing real protection must still rely on alarm systems, security services, or personal house sitters. SimLiveSecurity is thus a useful supplement, but not an all-round protection.
